Rudolph John Gavach, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:35 P.M., Monday, January 24, 2005 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Rudolph had worked at Swift Packing in East St. Louis and Du Quoin Packing Company.  He had also worked at Phelps Dodge, was custodian at Du Quoin Wheatley and Ward Schools and had worked with the Green Thumb Program.  He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Du Quoin.
He was born May 19, 1924 at East St. Louis, the son of Rudolph J. and Anna (Dlouhy) Gavach.
He married Evelyn Alice Stephenson on September 1, 1945 at East St. Louis and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, three daughters - Janette of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Patricia of Houston, Tex., and Helen of Houston, Tex., one son - Robert Gavach of Du Quoin, two brothers - Emil Gavach of Crestwood, Mo., and Carl Gavach of Columbia, 10 grandchildren - James A., Roger G., Jonathan, Jameson, Joshua, Justin, Natasha, Jessica, Heidi, and Jesse A. and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son - Francis J. Gavach and one brother - Steve Gavach.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Silas Morgan officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Second Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
